Real life FlashForward day on June 10th

In the spirit of “FlashForward’s” central premise, fans of the show will gather in front of ABC network and affilate offices in New York, L.A., Chicago, Detroit and Atlanta on June 10 and stage a blackout of their own.
That’s right.
For two minutes and 17 seconds, fans of the show are going to pretend to be passed out in front of ABC offices.

ABC cancels FlashForward

Whatever ABC executives saw in their flashforward, it wasn't good: the US network has canned the sci-fi show, which airs in the UK on Five.
Internet speculation has long suggested that the series, unlike Brit star Joseph Fiennes, wasn't in the best shape. Hailed as the newLost, it got off to a strong start in the ratings, but it seems viewers couldn't be bothered to stick around to find out whether FBI agent Mark Benford discovered who or what caused the world to black out and experience visions of the future, or why.

James Callis Interview with Zap2It

"I was looking very rough," he tells Zap2it. "They wanted me to be English, originally."

That, though, didn't make sense to Callis: "This guy in 'FlashForward,' he's been abducted from an early age and put in some weird scientific flash-forward think tank -- was he on holiday from Skegness?"

(FYI, Skegness is a seaside town in Lincolnshire, England.)

"I just ... didn't buy the idea of Gabriel McDow being a young 15-year-old, being on holiday in America and being abducted from his parents," he says. "You know what, it's an American story. It's set in Los Angeles."

Perhaps as a result of his experiences, McDow is mentally and emotionally disturbed, albeit still brilliant. His fashion sense has definitely suffered as well.

"I was a very different kind of character," Callis says. "I was very protected by the glasses and the baseball cap and whatever it was. Initially they said, 'It's just you, wearing a mac, and we love the way you talk.' I'm like, 'That's going to seem so odd.'

"I've seen videos of Kim Peek, the guy who 'Rain Man' was based on. He's the original savant. These people, they're truly brilliant, but they're slightly askance".

FlashForward - James Callis Character Details

The news of James Callis being cast in Flashforward has peaked my interest in the show again.  In my opinion it had become rather bland to the extent I forgot it was on.  Here is some info on James' character.

The Science Fiction fandom has been abuzz since ABC announced that James Callis had been cast in a pivotal role on FlashForward.  Callis’s performance as Gaius Baltar on Battlestar Galactica was legendary, Baltar was multi-faceted – playboy, scoundrel, traitor, religious leader, and surprisingly, hero – and much to Callis’s credit, every angle of Gaius was believable as individual shades of one morally complex individual.  Following up a character like Balater wouldn’t be easy, but from what I learned today Callis may have found a part on FlashForward that makes for a suitable encore.

While speaking with FlashForward cast members Jack Davenport, Sonya Walger, Joseph Fiennes, and Dominic Monaghan today, I got a few unexpected bits of info about that nature of Callis’s character – who I have since confirmed is named Gabriel McDow –  that turned out to be intriguing to say the least.  The first bit came when I asked Walger about how the ‘Many Worlds’ concept might mate with the knowledge in the FlashForward universe that the visions are not destiny.

“Olivia meets this strange character who seems to know an enormous amount about her future, and is very definitive about what he knows – he’s played by James Callis, who was in Battlestar Galactica amongst other things – and the reason he knows so much about Olivia’s future is that it turns out he has had multiple flash-forwards.   So he becomes integral to her believing and subscribing  to the idea that there is an alternative, that there was another path that she might have gone on. He also becomes of huge importance to the FBI investigation.” Walger told me.

Look who's FlashForward-ing: James Callis!

Battlestar Galactica's James Callis is FlashForwarding to ABC to make some trouble. He  has been cast in a major role on FlashForward for several episodes at the end of the season, said co-show runner Jessika Borsiczky in an exclusive interview with SCI FI Wire.

"When I watched Battlestar, every time he wasn't in a scene I couldn't wait for him to come back," said Borsiczky. "And I really wanted to have an opportunity to work with him. Honestly, since the show was ordered, we've been excited to work with him. And I so just cast him in our show. He's playing a big role in some of the final episodes this season, and it was for that very reason."

However, Borsiczky was coy about the exact nature of Callis' character. "I don't actually want to tell you anything about the character, because he's a really exciting, unusual character. So I think it's going to be fun for the audience. He's going to be involved with Olivia's trajectory ... some of Olivia's journey."

What Borsiczky wasn't at all coy about was the behind-the-scenes changes that have been big news as FlashForward prepares to return to ABC in March after a long hiatus. Borsiczky's husband, co-creator David Goyer, stepped down as the show's show runner just months after taking over for Marc Guggenheim, who also stepped down.
