V season 2 will be coming to Syfy in 2011. New footage from the upcoming season debuted at New York Comic Con over the weekend—but more importantly and executive producer Steve Pearlman spoke about how this season will differ from the first.

"We want to make the show louder, bolder and faster," he said. "We want to give the audience some new iconic images that they didn't get the first season or in the original series."

Because of the six-month gap between the season finale and the start of season two, Pearlman said the new season hits hard.

"Our feeling is we need to come out of the starting gate really strong. The DVD set is going to be out the first week of November, so the timing of that is really great. But in terms of the show itself, we spent a lot of time back in May and June laying out the new season and how we were going to grab people. The two things we came away with that are most representative of the direction of the new season is, one, in the first season we started off in the pilot and most of our characters were not connected.

"We had a newscaster, a priest and an FBI agent. It was a challenge to get all of our characters into stories together. By the end of the season, we had moved the characters strategically so we could legitimately get them into scenes together and you wouldn't go 'Why are they in a scene together?'

"We got Chad [Scott Wolf] to the point where he was talking regularly to Father Jack [Joel Gretsch]. We got Ryan [Morris Chestnut] to a point where he was liaising with Erica [Elizabeth Mitchell]. We had strategically moved our characters into a position where we can tell stories with them all in a room. That took the better part of the first season to do that because you can't just jump that; you have to get there. Going into the second season it's making it easier to find stories."

 The other thing we found looking over the first season was we needed one story in an episode that each of our characters could bounce off of. For example, the last two episodes of the season involved all of our characters in different ways. The second-to-last episode Lisa [Laura Vandervoort] was injured and Anna [Morena Bacc"arin] and Erica came together dealing with her injury and had Chad reporting on it. Stories like that are more indicative of where we are going this year. For example, in the episode we shot last week, Anna is throwing a big gala in New York City and each of our characters is bouncing off that gala in some form or another."

And then there's Jane Badler.

As reported before, the actress who originated the role of the lizard queen is coming back to the mythology as Diana, Anna's mother. Pearlman revealed that the fans were really the arbiters of that decision.

"We didn't set out to bring Jane Badler to the show," he said. "We set out to introduce Anna's mother. The goal was to cast the best actor for the role. There was always the intrigue of 'What if it was Jane Badler?', and I think the fans certainly spoke very loudly and clearly, and we got the message from that. But we had a lot of actresses interested in the role. We had a lot of people come and read for it, and Jayne won the part. It's not the same character that she played in the original series, but there are opportunities to play tribute to the original, like the fact that she wears a red dress."

If you got excited when it was announced that Jane Badler of the original ‘ V‘ series would be joining ABC‘s reboot this season – and as Anna’s mother, no less, apparently Jane is roughly 1,000 times more excited.

"It’s so cool.. And it’s so cool for me!” she effused during a press round table held on the series' Vancouver set..

Asked for her reaction when ABC decided to relaunch ‘ V ‘ last TV season, Badler said, ” I felt like a lover had reemerged that I had never quite finished with. I thought, ‘ Oh my god, I’ve got to get in touch with these people and get on this show.’”

Badler then went about connecting with the series’ Executive Producers – first Jace Hall, and later Scott Rosenbaum.. ” I really kept myself in the running,” she says.. ” And when this role came up, I auditioned for it – because even though the name of the character was Diana, they intended it as an homage … and not necessarily the same character [ From the original ' V ' ]..”

It’s important to underscore that point – that while Badler is playing aVisitor named Diana, it’s not the same jumpsuit – clad, rat – gulping Diana from the ’80s sci – fi show.

Still, she notes, ” It’s me [ In the role ], so there will be elements of me in there.. And there’s something that resonates deeply in the fact that I’ve come back [ And am ] passing on that baton..”

As Season Twokicks off, it will be revealed that she has been aboard the Vs’ Mothership all this time, hidden away by her very own daughter.. ” [ Anna is ] kind of the head queen,” says Badler, ” and I’m in exile – the queen in waiting..”

We won’t reveal for just how long Diana has been stowed away, but her time in exile has been made most comfortable by the fact that her confines look exactly like the Visitors’ home world.. If you’re envisioning a swampy atmosphere with giant lily pads … well, you wouldn’t be entirely off base.. ” It is lush and tropical,” Badler confirms..

All of which begs the question: Why would Anna go to such lengths to make Mom’s ” prison “ pass for home? Could it be that Diana doesn’t even know she’s aboard a spacecraft hovering above Earth? We gave Badler pause when we floated that theory..

” I never thought of that.. Wow,” she responded.. ” I just assumed that she knew she was on the ship, but now that you’ve said that, she probably doesn’t know.. That would make sense..”

Though ABC has yet to announces ‘ V‘s Season Two premiere date, those anxious to see Badler back on the scene are assured it will be worth the wait.. ” You are going to love my entrance,” the actress tells us with a big smile.. ” The way they introduce me is very cool..”

Jane Badler has admitted that her return to V was not always certain.

The actress played Diana in the original version of the show and will play a new version of the character in the second season of the ABC reboot.

"From the moment I heard V was coming back, it was something I was hoping to be part of, but they tested a lot of people for this role," she told TV Guide. "A lot of years have passed, so it feels good to win something."

Badler revealed that the new Diana, reimagined as the mother of Anna (Morena Baccarin), will be similar to the previous incarnation.

"I'm still the way I've always been," she explained. "Lots of hair and eyes, a bit Raquel Welch-ish."

She confirmed that viewers will first see her character imprisoned on an alien ship by her daughter.

"I'm the queen in exile, locked away in a dungeon for 15 years," she said. "It's mother abuse!"

The second season of V is expected to air on ABC in November.

After the executive producer let slip at Comic-Con that he'd be introducing Anna's mother in V's November season premiere — and that her name would be Diana, fans went bonkers. Jane Badler. Word has just reached TV Guide Magazine that he has awarded Jane Badler the role.

When V returns, we will learn that Anna (Morena Baccarin) is keeping her mother prisoner on the mother ship in a never-before-seen section that has been designed to look like the Visitors' home planet. Both Morena and Laura Vandervoort, who plays Anna's daughter, Lisa, told me they, too, were hoping Jane would take the role. Still stunningly beautiful at age 56, Jane's Diana, who will be a recurring character, is perhaps the only reptilian being who will be able to put Anna in her place.
