Warner Bros has hired Green Lantern writer Greg Berlanti to start work on a Clash Of The Titans sequel, says Deadline.

The studio has tapped Berlanti to draft the initial story for a follow-up to this month's 3D mythological epic. Helmer Louis Leterrier will be back as an executive producer only, so a new director and a second writer will be brought on board to take Berlanti's script and shape it for the big screen.

Star Sam Worthington is expected to reprise his role as Perseus, while the characters who survived the first movie alive will also have roles.

Despite middling reviews and criticisms about its use of 3D, Clash has already made an impressive $388 million at the worldwide box office after only a month on release.

Growing up as a kid I loved the original Clash of the Titans movie.  So I may be a more than little excited about how good this looks. I also find it totally awesome they've kept the line "Release the Kraken".  Personally you can stuff your 3D, I think it would be amazing in 2D.

Clash Of The Titans features Perseus, unrevealed son of Zeus, caught up in the ultimate struggle between men and gods. Perseus (Worthington) volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power and unleash hell on earth. The movie is in cinemas – in 3D, of course – from Friday 2 April 2010.
