Michael Trucco Teases 'Castle' role

Michael Trucco has revealed that he wants his Castle character to be "a stand-up guy".

The actor made his first appearance in the show last week as Tom Demming, a love interest for Beckett (Stana Katic).

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he explained that he wants the audience to like his character, even though he is obstructing a possible romance between Beckett and Castle (Nathan Fillion).

"I tried to make this character really likeable, really believable, so that the audience can relate to Beckett and her potential attraction," he said. "If you come off as smarmy or sleazy, you end up being the bad guy in the end, then it just feels like the audience gets cheated. So I wanted to put a real challenge in front of the characters and say, 'We kinda like this guy'. At least that's what I'm hoping for."
