Monte Carlo Television Festival 6-10 June 2010

The festival was created 16-20 January 1961 by Prince Rainer III of Monaco who wished to "encourage a new art form in the service of peace and understanding between men".  In 2002, the festival was reorganised to include additional categories to recognise new trends in the television industry.  The top prize in the festival is a statuette, a gold copy of the "Salmacis" Nymph by the Monegasque sculptor Francois Joseph Bosio, commonly known as the Golden Nymph.
