"No, I don't. It's no reason really, I don't know why! It's not really my thing. I mean, not that I don't enjoy the genre, the supernatural genre or maybe even sci-fi, but maybe you just get enough of it when you're doing your own show and you're completely surrounded by it. And by proxy anyway you happen to run into a lot of these [shows]. You'll read a lot of articles about stuff, you'll read the Twilight books because someone has thrown them at you while you're hanging around set, or somebody is watching it on set, and you just dip and out. But I'm not an ardent viewer of any particular show at all, really."
What do you make of the show's success in America?
"That's been really cool. It really took us by surprise. We went over to do a lot of press for it last August - we did Comic-Con and we did TCAs and all these big press events - and that's when it really kind of hit home. We walked in to do a press conference at Comic-Con and there was 6,000 plus people. Granted, Doctor Who were on after us and they were all there for Doctor Who but they kind of knew who we were! So yeah, it's been a big hit over there and I signed with an agent, and all the producers I've met recently are all very aware of the show."
And they're making a local US version...
"Yeah, I think the Sci-Fi channel have brought the structure or the premise of the show from Toby Whithouse, the creator. I don't know really much about that, I don't know when they're going to start shooting it or whether they have. I heard a rumour that Mitchell might be a girl! I don't know. I wish them all the best, it's a cool little idea and it's not surprising that somebody has picked it up, but we don't know anything about it really. I kind of do hope it's different though, I hope it's not so like our show."
