James Callis talks to IGN about his new role on Eureka

IGN TV: What can we expect from Dr. Grant?

James Callis: Expect the unexpected, I would say. He's not like anyone I've played before. And who knows if I'll play someone like him again. In fact, you've never met somebody like Dr. Grant before.

IGN: He's returned to Eureka, having lived there before. What kind of baggage is he bringing with him?

Callis: He definitely comes with a past. Indeed. But meets Allison and Allison has now become his present and his future, if I can put it that way. Or at least he'd like her to be. And so they're slowly moving toward that "end." But, he's a former resident of the town and the town isn't quite how he remembers it or pictures it. Everybody's slightly different and there's this weird guy who's the sheriff now and Grant wonders, "Is this guy really the sheriff?"

Things have changed slightly, in the sense that when Grant was living there years before, things weren't necessarily so metro-sexual. People weren't free and easy with each other. The sheriff wasn't cool with everything. I imagine in my own mind that Grant imagines that there should be a slightly more hard-nose law-guy running things. Grant is not someone to be messed with. He's got his own ideas and he's not a push-over.
